Eats Pass: The Humans Behind the Food

"Every restaurant has a story hiding behind the counter. A family recipe carried across generations. A chef rebuilding life after burnout. A food truck owner working sixteen-hour days because they believe their tacos matter. A baker showing up at 3:30am while the town sleeps. A dishwasher who became a partner. A tiny restaurant held together by stubbornness, caffeine, and hope. Eats Pass exists to tell those stories. This project is about building a thoughtful platform that interviews restaurant owners, chefs, cooks, servers, bakers, baristas, and local food makers across Kitsap County and beyond. We want to capture the human side of food culture through written stories, photography, short documentaries, social media features, and interviews that make people care about the people behind the meal. Not “Top 10 Burgers.” Not fake foodie hype. Real humans. Real kitchens. Real stories. The mission is to strengthen community by helping people discover local restaurants through connection instead of algorithms alone. When people know the story behind a place, they root for it differently. We’re looking for collaborators who care about storytelling, hospitality, culture, and documenting local life. Possible roles may include: * Editor / Editorial Lead * Interviewers * Writers * Food Photographers * Videographers * Social Media Creators * Community Outreach * Restaurant Relationship Coordinators * Designers * Web & Automation Support * Local Food Scouts Over time, Eats Pass could become part community publication, part discovery platform, and part historical record of the people feeding a region. The bigger vision: Help independent restaurants feel seen. Help communities gather around local places again. Preserve the stories before they disappear into another empty storefront."
